Dominick Cruz suffers yet another ACL injury

To call former Ultimate Fighting Championship or the UFC Bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz as the unluckiest fighter in the history of the UFC is putting it mildly. The Mexican – American, who missed more than two years of action due to an ACL injury, has been sidelined again for an indefinite period.

Writing on his Facebook account, Cruz said that he has suffered yet another setback with injury which is set to put him on the shelf for an undetermined amount of time, as of now. This time, it is an anterior cruciate ligament injury on his right knee.

Cruz wrote that he has to tell his fans with great sadness that he has suffered yet another ACL injury, adding that this time; it is on his right knee, opposite to his first and second ACL injuries. He admitted that leading up to his last fight that was in September 2014, he has trained very carefully and methodically and ensured his diet was at par to keep his body healthy.

But Dominick Cruz admitted that some things are just beyond the control of a person and added that although it is still unclear when he will be able to be fit enough to return to fighting, he mentioned that he will put his heart and soul into getting back in shape so that he can return to the Octagon once again.

Cruz has a record of 20-1 in Mixed Martial Arts and his record in the UFC is 3-0, but he had to surrender his UFC Bantamweight Championship after being on the shelf for more than two years with Renan Barao securing the belt.

Dominick Cruz was set for a shot at the title upon his return but this new injury has derailed all those grand plans of the UFC.
