The bout between Cody Garbrandt and T.J. Dillashaw was supposed to hold in Las Vegas, Nevada on July 9, 2017 and was expected to co-headline UFC 213.

However, due to a troubling back injury, Garbrandt has been forced out of his Bantamweight title fight.

The injury is a few years old and has been a big issue for the fighter since his mixed martial arts (MMA) career. However,he has undergone a stem cell treatment in Germany at the request and expense of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

Thankfully, the treatment has helped with the pain but Garbrandt admits that he is yet to heal enough to fight anytime soon. The fighter who spoke during a recent appearance on “The MMA Hour” noted that he would not like to prolong the fight all because of an injury.

“The last thing I want to do is prolong the fight because of an injury. T.J has an ass-whooping (coming) and I want to be 100-percent to give T.J. a 100-percent ass-whooping.

“I won’t be satisfied going in 60-percent and still whooping his ass. I don’t want to give him a 60-percent ass-whooping, I want to give him a 100-percent ass-whooping like he deserves.” he said. (more…)

Dominick Cruz, former UFC Bantamweight Champion has something in common with Ronda Rousey, former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion.

That common factor is that during the UFC 207, they both went down defeated by their various opponents. For Cruz however, it was worse as he lost a title that night.

Cruz has some advice for Rousey, who currently is in the midst of two fight losing streak. His advice however, is from his own life experience.

Speaking on The Joe Rogan Experience, Cruz said: “We’re all putting so much into this one thing that we think that is our everything.”

He wants her to put more energy into loving herself than the fighting career.

“It sounds cheesy, but if you put all that energy towards loving yourself and not the fight career, the fight career will still be there just as heavy as it is. She’s using the fighting as her identity. With that championship belt, she is Ronda Rousey, the Ronda Rousey,” he added. (more…)

Dominick Cruz Continues To Defend His UFC Title

Monday, June 6th, 2016

We are all familiar with the tactics of the champions of calling their opponents names in front of the media and to challenge them in forthcoming fights.

Dominick Cruz is not afraid to sit back and so he has been accusing Urijah Faber. The accusations relate to usage of PED which he feels is simply out of jealousy.

This is definitely in the event of promoting the fight that is coming up for defending the title. UFC 199 will feature Urijah and Dominick where the latter will be defending his title. There are a lot of promotions being done for the upcoming fight. Faber has been talking about Cruz using PED while Cruz has said that the allegations have no ground. Cruz feels that Faber is resorting to slander. He accused Faber of having deserted the kid; he mentored and states that Faber is capable of deserting his own family if it makes him look good.

Cruz is bothered by the rumors that Faber is spreading about him, which he asserts is baseless. For experienced fans of both fighters, this kind of name calling is usually a ploy to get the attention of the fans and to hold the same till the fight is on. (more…)

Dominick Cruz not ruling out 2015 return

Sunday, May 10th, 2015

Former Ultimate Fighting Championship or the UFC Bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz could easily be described as one of the best pound for pound athletes in the promotion at the moment – if only his body would take the hammering it required.

Cruz, who has a record of 20-1 in Mixed Martial Arts and unbeaten in three fights in the UFC, is on a streak of eleven wins on the trot, some of them over the biggest names in the sport. Unfortunately, a series of knee injuries and complications in the surgery process has limited him to just one fight since October 2011.

While many expected ring rust to take a huge toll on the Mexican American fighter upon his return to the UFC against Takeya Mizugaki, Cruz went on the rampage and stopped the Japanese in the very first round. He was set to take on TJ Dillashaw for a crack at the UFC Bantamweight Championship but as luck would have it, Dominick Cruz suffered yet another ACL tear which sidelined him for the next few months at least.

However, now Cruz has said that he could return to action sooner than expected, even indicating that a return in 2015 is not completely off the table, which would be quite a miracle. (more…)
